This is a load that porters carry. EVERYTHING except what is grown in the village has to be carried up by either porters, yaks or horses. There are no roads (except for trails) so everything, big and small, needs to be physically carried up the mountain. This includes tables, chairs, wood to build the lodges, food, salt, pepper, soda, plates, and in some cases (like this photo) the meat. The men that carry these loads often times weigh less than the load and get paid only about $3-6 a day! It is amazing!
