| Now that the babies are getting older, it is easier to take them with us to different places. The other day we went to our Tibetan friends house (they are our neighbors from our old house) to visit with them and eat some homemade Tibetan momo's (steamed dumplings filled with meat or vegetables). That day we had buffalo meat (tastes kind of like beef) momo's, with a spicy sauce kind of like salsa. My favorite kind are vegetable but these were good too. Momo's are one of the staple foods of Tibetans. When you visit a nationals home, it is customary to bring them something either a bottle of soda, a loaf of bread, some cookies or some fruit. You also take your shoes off before entering the home and politely greet everyone in the house. Most of the time, Tibetan and Nepali people will not eat with their guests. They will serve you the food and literally watch you eat and then when you are finished and usually after you leave, they will eat. Since we are so close with this family, we all eat together which we like so much more than eating by ourselves. They all loved seeing the babies and holding them. We are so thankful to have friends who treat us like family here in Nepal. |
