Up until now there hasn't been any fast food in Kathmandu. Many Asian cities have Starbucks, Burger King, Subway, etc. etc. Kathmandu has had nothing like this. There are a few "western-type" restaurants in Kathmandu that we do truly like and are very thankful for (such as our restaurant The Lazy Gringo or Fire and Ice pizza and Himalayan Java coffee and Shogun's...etc) but there is just something about a good-old American chain restaurant that makes you feel "at home" and comfortable. I know to many of you who live in America this is "crazy talk" and Pizza Hut and KFC is last on your lists of places to eat but just imagine not eating at any truly American restaurant for months (and for some of my friends years) and then having this place open up near your home...it is awesome! Although they don't deliver (none of the streets in Kathmandu have names and the roads are always so jammed up that they decided not do try delivery here) but we can call and order pizza to take-out. That is AWESOME! Also, up until now, Kathmandu has not had any "to-go" cups or fountain sodas and KFC now has them!!! I love that I can drive by and order a diet Pepsi and get it in a to-go cup with ice, a lid and a straw! Oh the little things in life! So anyway, today was the GRAND OPENING of this place and of course we just had to go. We knew it might be crazy with so many people wanting to try it but we decided to brave the crowds and go for it. We went with another family and had a great time. The food was DELICIOUS and the line for Pizza Hut wasn't long at all. The line for KFC on the other hand was HOURS long...we'll have to try that another day! Here is a tour of our new Kathmandu Pizza Hut and our time at the grand opening!
This is just a small part of the line of the people waiting to get into KFC.
Me and Gracie...I was so excited. I know Gracie would have been too if she understood what a big day this was!!!
The take-out area at Pizza Hut.
Thankfully, this restaurant is non-smoking!
We were SO impressed with the inside of the restaurant. It is two stories and beautiful inside. It is nicer than most Pizza Huts I have been to in America. We only saw one other foreigner in there while we were there...the place was FULL of Nepali people.
Ryan and Keane...ready to eat pizza!
The tables are set so nicely and the wait staff was so polite and helpful. You could tell they were trying really hard to please us...and they did!
The pasta menu...we will have to try this next time!
The pizza menu...real pepperoni in Kathmandu!!!
Keane loved "reading" the menu.
Just some of the motorbikes that were parked outside.
The line for KFC.
There is really great outside seating at Pizza Hut.
Another view of the inside of the restaurant.
Our pizza...pepperoni and pineapple....DELICIOUS!!!!

They have these awesome booths inside. We really were blown away at how nice it was!
A group picture of us and our friends the Alexanders and our waiter Sonam and one of the other waitresses.
Sophia with her Pizza Hut balloon. She had a great night!
This was our attempt at a 'Happy Thanksgiving' family picture. As you can see it's not perfect. We will try again tomorrow!
Keane playing with a balloon with Daddy and Bo
It was dark when we were finished and the line was still there. SO many people!
Delicious food....so thankful! I think Keane's face and hair in this picture are hilarious. So cute!
So sleepy after a fun night....
What a wonderful way to spend Thanksgiving eve in Kathmandu. We hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!
