The Kathmandu Zoo with my English students

I have been meaning to post these pictures for a long time now. In the beginning of December Ryan and I were able to take Keane and Gracie and my english students out for a fun adventure to the Kathmandu zoo and then for lunch at our restaurant The Lazy Gringo. The ladies are from a small village in northern Nepal and now live here in Kathmandu. Most of their husbands/fathers live in America and they are trying to learn English in hopes that they will get a visa to be able to join them in America. None of these ladies had EVER been to a zoo before. We had a lot of fun and they were so amazed by all of the animals. At the end I asked them to tell me about the things they saw and one of the ladies said that we saw 49 animals....she had been counting the whole time! I think they were most amazed by the hippos and the big black monkeys. It was also their first time to try Mexican food and they really seemed to enjoy that too. It was a great day!

Here they are looking at some deer.
The hippos. The one in the front here was sleeping and it was hardly moving and they kept staring at it asking if it was dead. They were really happy when it started moving.

My students looking at the big black monkeys swinging in the cages.

Keane and Gracie playing with one of my students and another students daughter.

The group of us at the exit of the zoo.

Eating at the Lazy Gringo. So much fun!

So thankful for such a fun day!!
