A couple of days ago we had a VERY unexpected hail storm here in Kathmandu. Although it gets very cold here it hardly ever snows in the valley (so many Nepali people have never seen snow). The hail storm was crazy and it was so loud I honestly thought that the windows were going to break. It was so strange. Anyway, after the storm was over I looked out my window and saw my neighbors trying to build a snowman and playing in the hail that was left on the ground. They were having so much fun. Many of them have seen snow before but for some of them this hail is the first time. They worked really hard to make this snowman out of the hail. I think they did a pretty good job considering they were dealing with little balls of ice. They made me laugh! It was a lot of fun.
Of course everyone had to get their picture with the snowman!
In the apartment below ours there is a Tibetan family that lives there and a few Tibetan Buddhist monks (that are their family and friends) live there too. Here is one of the lamas/monks and his neice.
Our friend Sonam. Sonam is also a monk and tried to take all of the credit for building the snowman.
