The other day my friend Jess and I spent the afternoon together. We went to the tailor to pick out some fabric and get some pants made for Keane and Gracie (believe me...tailor made pants for 2 year olds sounds a lot more glamorous then it really is...it takes a lot of work to find the right fabric and you have to go through massive crowds full of chaos to get there. Then you have to give them some samples of clothes and wait at least a week for the items to be ready. It costs the same (or a little more) than some pants at Target or Wal-mart on sale and to be honest I would much rather just go shopping at all of the great children's clothing stores in America to find them but alas the tailor shop is what we have here if we want any sort of good quality pants for the kids). After the tailor we managed (with Jess' amazing driving skills) to get ourselves out of the VERY, VERY crowded parking area. We then went to a new mall here to see about a new 8D (means it is in 3D and deals with different senses like smell, touch, etc) theater here. When we got there they said that the show was only 15 minutes long and was double the cost of what it is to see a regular movie here but since no good English movies were playing at the regular theater we decided to give the 8D a shot. It was fun and hilarious. It reminded me of a ride at Disney World. We went flying over highways and swimming in the deep ocean...I have to admit that I did scream at one point when a huge octopus jumped out at us...it was a fun (and memorable) 15 minutes. Set-up right next to the 8D movie entrance was Nepal's best attempt at a Halloween scene....Nepal doesn't have Halloween (thankfully!) but the more and more TV shows and movies that come to Nepal the more and more familiar they become with things from the West and the more and more they try to attempt to create the things they see. Well, here is a witch and a carved pumpkin (set up in the nicest mall in Kathmandu) all for our viewing pleasure and so that you can take your picture in front of it ($1.50 if you want them to take it) to remember the special occasion! Oh the joys of living overseas....
