Catching up: Thanksgiving

We were so blessed to have several Thanksgiving celebrations here in Nepal. Thanksgiving in Nepal is a time to really reflect on what we are thankful for and to share with those around us about Jesus and all that He has given us. Although we are thousands of miles away from grocery stores stocked with Thanksgiving cooking and baking items we do our very best here to make a delicious traditional meal at each of our gatherings. Turkeys don't live in Nepal so if you want one you have to buy a frozen imported one and it is not cheap. An average size turkey in Nepal costs about $90 so most of our celebrations just include chicken although usually at least one time a year people get together and splurge on a turkey. On the Friday after Thanksgiving we were blessed to have a gathering in our home of some of our teammates and a group of young Tibetan friends who are all part of a fellowship that some of our teammates started. Some of them are really new believers and God is working mightily through them. It was a neat time of celebration, worship and prayer. We also ate a traditional Thanksgiving meal that my teammates and I prepared. It was a special time with good food and good friends!
