Long overdue post: January Medical Camps with volunteers from America

This January (it seems like it was forever ago in some ways but just yesterday in others) we had an amazing team of volunteers from a church in Florida come out to partner with us to serve the Tibetans of Nepal with the love of Christ. The team included a medical doctor, several nurses, a dentist and a dental assistant, among others. This team traveled about 7 hours by bus to a city called Pokhara where our teammates live and work and they were able to work with many of the ethnic Tibetan people who had come out of the mountains to escape the harsh, cold winter months in their villages. Our team kept the medical team VERY busy. I think the team did 14 camps in 5 days each at a different location. The people they saw have very, very little access to good medical care and many of them have no access to medical care at all. The team did routine check-ups, pulled A LOT of teeth (I think 35 in the first stop), fitted people for and gave away a lot of reading glasses and helped people with more serious medical issues. Most importantly, the team was able to share the love of Christ with the patients and were able to pray with many of them. These medical camps really impacted the people who came to them, heard about them and watched them. The people were amazed that Christians would come and serve and love them in this way. Lives were changed and people were healed both physically and spiritually. We are so thankful for this team and others like them who sacrifice their time, money and talents to serve the Lord here by serving the Tibetan Buddhist people of Nepal.

David is an amazing dentist who pulled SO many teeth. Most of the people from these villages never get to see a dentist and so their teeth are often very damaged. Here you can see Dr. David pulling a tooth.
